DESCRIPTION:
Really nice clean example of  the very first version of the first Eastman Kodak movie camera introduced in 1923.  Unlike the later model, this first model has the lens recessed in the front lens port on the camera front – see photo.  Based upon the very low serial number of 00534 it was most likely manufactured in the first year of production. One eBay collector contacted me and said that it may have been produced in the first month of manufacturing.
Camera exterior very clean - Please look at the photos for cosmetic condition.  Comes with the original case – case lid separated with several edge pieces detached (see photos).  A separate leather handle was included in case – see photo.  This first model had a flip up/down metal lens cover – this cover separated from body – looks like the hinge snapped – maybe you can figure out a fix.  Looks like one screw is missing metal ring on front of camera.  The camera has not been film tested.  Camera is being sold for display only.
FUNCTIONAL CONDITION:
The camera opens and closes properly.  The manual film advance crank rotates smoothly with the inside film uptake spindle turning consistent with the film advance.  The camera sounds smooth when cranking the film advance.  The outside focus and aperture adjustment pointers on the back of the camera turn smoothly.  When turning these, the internal aperture and focusing levers (inside the camera front at the lens mount) move smoothly with no hesitation or sticking.  The lens aperture opens and closes properly.  The lens looks fairly clean with some dust/debris – looks like photos would be very good. Viewfinder has some dust/specks – viewing is very good.
FOCUSING FUNCTION:
These cameras are known to have focusing problems – primarily the focus adjustments are frozen because of rust or old lubricants.  However, on this camera, the focusing pointer and internal adjustment lever move smoothly and the internal lever is securely attached to the brass ring at the lens housing – everything rotates smoothly.  Without film testing, I do not know whether and how accurate the film focusing function operates.  It may require some adjustment if used for filming.  Buyers are welcome to return the camera if the focusing is not acceptable – Buyer Responsible For Shipping.
