Description
This is a very Rare Gunto Sword. In my 30 years of collecting I have only seen two others. This sword is made in a more traditional manner. Its construction is what is called Kobuse. That is when the two outer layers of a hardened steel are wrapped around softer core steel. You can find this information in in John Scott Slough's book An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945. On page 99 there is an example of this Hot Stamp. I have a PDF file that I can send you after you purchase this sword.
The signature reads ShoShin kobuse Gitae Nakane Yukimune Saku. Yukimune was a Showa smith from Gifu. He made swords from 1926-1989. There is also a Seki arsenal stamp. There is no date.
The blade is in fair to good shape overall. There are some rubbing marks and light discoloration. My photos were taken by a scanner so they are not as bright as the hamon really is. There is a lot of activity in the Hamon. The fittings are in good shape. The end Kojiri is missing.
The last one that I saw sell on ebay was in 2018 and it sold for 00. Again this is a Rare Gunto Sword!
