Description
WW2 Japanese Army Officer Late War Shin Gunto Sword-Signed and dated. "MASANORI" May 1944. The blade is 26 " long. 35" with handle. It has an original factory bright polish blade with a nice hamon. The tang is signed on both sides. The tsuka handle is unfinished due to end of war in Japan. The sword workers just went home and never finished the assembly of this sword. Mainly the metal saya. The black iron tsuba has a single seppa on either side. All fitted in a correct late war steel scabbard that has nice paint and no dents. The scabbard is unfinished in some places. See pics. It won't take much to complete. There is also a small stamp which looks like "SEKI" . This sword never saw combat! The blade was made in the town of SEKI where the Japanese Army had a manufacturing center. Final assembly was in Nagoya. MASANORI was a Army swordsmith. So you can say that this is a factory NEW unused sword. Don't let this get away.
