Description
Here we have a type 30 bayonet made by jinsen arsenal korea. It has the original bamboo scabbard with its original frog. The blade is in great condition with surface rust. The blade is straight and in untampered condition. The edge has some denting but retains its original edge with blueing. No one has attempted to sharpen it. Blade is straight. Wood handles are in great condition. Locking mechanism functions. There is one crack in the scabbard running from the base halfway up. There is also a chip missing near the mouth. The metal pieces have experienced rust but are solid. There is no retaining screw as late war designs used the frog strap to provide tension. The original frog strap has separated but the portion in the bayonet retainer is still stuck in position showing the frog is original to the scabbard. The frog is in rough condition but solid enough to handle safely. There is one rivet missing. The back strap has also been cut (this is common for bring backs as it was easier to cut off a bayonet rather that disassemble an entire Japanese belt to get it off). This bayonet is not a mint example but is complete with its original frog. Definitely makes a great reference example.
